Halle Berry’s perfect and Bruce Willis . . . well, there’s really nobody stranger . . . Perfect Stranger.
In Perfect Stranger, Halle Barry plays Rowena who is a ruthless reporter whose big expose story on a Senator just got hushed. Completely devastated, she doesn’t realize another huge story is brewing when her friend is brutally murdered. Just before her murder, her friend told her she’d been dating a married man she met on line who was also the owner of the biggest LA advertising agency. Bruce Willis stars as Harrison Hill, the owner of the advertising agency. Rowena suspects Harrison Hill may have something to do with the death of her friend. Determined to find out, she goes undercover as a temp worked at the agency and starts a hot on-line relationship with Harrison. When he gets suspicious of her true intentions, she knows she’s in an intense racing against time to prove he killed her friend before she ends up his next victim.
Perfect Stranger has a few moments that seem a little off - funny sounding dialogue, or suspect acting, or scenes that look too much like glossy Hollywood sets. But, a strong, well conceived story makes it work. Even though there’s a few very weird, very R rated twists, the plot will keep you locked in and guessing until the end. In fact, the biggest frustration with the movie is its title. We’re still not sure what the “stranger” has to do with the story. Still, it’s intense and dramatic and worth checking out! |
